Changed
I felt we had a wonderful Vacation Bible School this year. All week long, we considered the birth, childhood, teachings, miracles, death, burial, resurrection and pending return of our Lord and Savior. Our hope and intent was that every student would leave with an assurance of their relationship with Christ.
When a person becomes a follower of Jesus, change is expected. What that change looks like will vary person to person. As we grow in Him, we are going to be more like Him. In fact, our desire should bet hat we are more like Him and less like us. If we changed, we would be more like Him. I pray this message might provoke such change.
I plan to examine four people who, at least in a captured moment of their decision, revealed a surrendered life to Christ. My desire is that my life will be more and more filled with captured moments like these, better decisions and godly choices without even realizing I am doing it. I want the question to penetrate my mind:
What would Jesus do?
Then think, say, and do as He would.
1) The widow who gave all she had (Mark 12:38-44)
2) The tax collector who humbly prayed (Luke 18:9-14)
3) Paul and Silas who prayed and sang (Acts 16:16-26)
4) Stephen who forgave those who stoned him (Acts 7:54-60)
All demonstrate a humble spirit and a contrite heart bent on worshiping, honoring, and glorifying the God they serve. They got what I hope was grown in our kids' hearts this week. Jesus loves you, but do you love Him?
Jesus is the greatest person to ever live and the most important question you will ever be asked is do you know Him. Here are two questions Jesus asked His Disciples:
1) Who do you say I am?
2) Do you love Me?
If you say He is Lord, and if you say yes, you do love Him, change your ways so you can be more like Him.
