We Have Who We Need
I find it so logical and practical to connect our freedom as Americans with our freedoms in Christ that I must combine them every summer.
Allow me to be the first, perhaps, to wish you a Happy Independence Day. I hope you are humbled and grateful to be here in America. Some choose only to see our faults, which are many. While equally disgusted, I choose to consider all we have overcome and corrected. I also ask myself, more often than I care to admit, "if not here, then where?" Many threaten to leave our shores, few do. I encourage you to pray, pray, pray. Thank God for our bounty and endless opportunities, but we must pray endlessly for God's mercies and forgiveness as well as His convictions and guidance. May our Lord send another Great Awakening or come for us quickly.
As hopeful as we may be for either to occur, our confidence lies in the actions of the past at Calvary and His great promises that lie ahead. I plan for us to wrap July 4th this year with two messages on what Christ has done and what HE promises to do for those who follow Him. I ask you to read Hebrews 8 for this week, which deals with A Superior Covenant. Chapter nine deals with a Superior Sanctuary and chapter ten, a Superior Sacrifice. We have all we need in Christ our Lord. Don't go back! Don't give up! Our real hope and our real freedom is found only in Jesus. Pray for Donald Trump and be thankful for him if you choose, but look to Jesus for your way forward.
In Christ,
Pastor Todd Garren
