He is Coming for You

Have you ever said something like: "Can you believe this time last week we were sitting on the beach?"

Time really does seem to fly by these days. Do you ever wish you could capture a feeling or a moment in time and just relive it over and over? Easter weekend was just two weeks ago. We've all done a lot of living since then. We may have promised ourselves not to lose "that loving feeling," but many have already. I truly wish we could all bask in the glory of Christmas, Easter, and even Sundays just a little longer than we seemingly do.

Are you tired? Routines of life exhausting you? Imprisoned by the past? Worried about the future? Frustrated by things out of your control? Take heart!! Jesus will meet you where you are, even if you are in the process of moving away from Him.

From Luke 24:13-35 we will study about two of our Lord's Disciples as they were walking on the road to Emmaus, traveling approximately seven miles away from Jerusalem where Jesus had been falsely accused, wrongly adjudicated, brutally beaten, horrible crucified, temporarily buried and victoriously resurrected. These two mopes were caught between faith and doubt. I guarantee that you and everyone you know has been "on the road to Emmaus." It is well-traveled and yet, when you are on it as the weary sojourner, you can feel very isolated. Some never make it to wherever they were fleeing to because they get drawn back quickly. Some get there, like the prodigal son, but come to their senses and return back home. Some unfortunate souls run away in dismay, lose their way, and never find their way out and back.

These two men had unmet expectations (verse 21), which is the primary source of discouragement and despondency. The premature death of a loved one, a failed marriage, a doomed business venture, or a character flaw in a mentor can knock us down and create all kinds of confusion and fear.

The good news is that Jesus not only comes after the one that is lost, but He also does not neglect those already in the fold. I hope the hot flames of passion and zeal have you sitting on top of the world, kicking Satan in the teeth every day. But, just in case you might be walking on some road to nowhere, I want to tell you that just as Jesus came after these two, He is coming after you.

We will see their :

Discouragement

Discovery

Declaration

and just as they realized their HOPE was alive, you can as well.
