He is Our Hope!

Christians around the world celebrate the Advent season this time of year annually. While Baptist are not as committed to it as, say Catholics are, I still appreciate the themes of it and enjoy building sermons around them. Let's define Advent this way: "the arrival of a notable person, thing or event."

Thus, Advent Season marks the four Sundays before December 25th, to help prepare for the celebration of Jesus' birth by reflecting on hope, joy, peace and love, while also anticipating Christ's second coming.

This world has always been a spiritually dark place. Without the Light of Heaven it would be uninhabitable. Thankfully, in the fullness of time, God sent forth His Son, the Sun of Righteousness. Born in a manger, born in obscurity, born in Bethlehem, born of a virgin, He hardly appeared to be the King they desired.

We know, accept and receive what He taught and did. Our salvation is only possible because the Lamb of God took our sins. As wonderous as His first advent was, the second will be oh so much more glorious when He comes in power, majesty and might.

The Christ Child had healing in His Wings when He came to bring salvation to all who would believe.

The King of Glory will have judgement in His Mouth when He comes to bring damnation to all who would not believe.

We celebrate His Incarnation, and we anticipate His Second Coming.
