"The Conquering Servant"

"The Conquering Servant"

Mark 5:21-43

The fear of death is a universal human reality. Job called it "The King of Terror." Some today call it "The Grim Reaper." Many have tried to escape its cold, dark grip but only Enoch, Elijah and Jesus have accomplished the deed. From the young to the old, from the couch potato to the fitness guru, from the poorest to the richest, it has swept up or knocked down all whose time to depart has come. Thus, all who remain know it is just a matter of time until their departure is at hand.

Those following the Lord had observed His Power over the body, mind and soul. They were astonished at His Teachings, the people He called, and His ability to tame nature. Jesus was now going to show them yet another sign of His unquestionable Deity, the power to conquer death. This was foretelling to what would occur after His own physical death on the cross. He would indeed rise from the dead.

He said, "I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me though He may die, he shall live and whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."
